DETROIT, Mich. June 16, 2005, For Immediate Release — SKF Spindle Service, a unit of SKF USA Inc., has expanded its service center network to better serve the needs of Detroit area manufacturers. Located at 69900 Powell Road in Armada, MI. (formerly the Twentieth Century Machine Co.), the existing ball screw manufacturing and repair facility will now offer spindle service along with ball screw repair. The Detroit location is the newest part of SKF’s worldwide network of spindle repair centers that can service any make or model of spindle. SKF reconditions and upgrades more than 6,500 spindles each year in its worldwide spindle service network. With SKF, customers can expect a one-stop source for professional reconditioning with uniform quality worldwide.
Thanks to state-of-the-art procedures, SKF Spindle Service Centers can repair any spindle to OEM specifications or higher. SKF also offers an extensive range of replacement bearings designed for improving machine tool spindle performance with minimal runout, greater stiffness, higher reliability and cooler high-speed temperatures. Spindles, once received, go through a 22-point Total Condition Review. After the initial spindle checks and inspections are finished, a repairability review is completed to determine the best plan of action for repairs. Approved repairs are then made, and detailed records of these repairs are filed in SKF’s database for future reference.
