Linear Guide Ordering Instructions

Building the slide model number
The linear guide slides from SKF Precision Technologies can be defined by using a simple model number to define the standard features desired. Both the basic and ball screw linear slides offer a series of pre-engineered choices that have been application tested.

Step 1: Select the size
This is the width of the slide saddle and base. Refer to the data charts.

Step 2: Bearings
All linear slides can be ordered with either of two standard bearing types. The roller bearings offer a higher preload and are affected less by vibration and shock. The ball bearings offer a lower preload but travel faster.

Step 3: Saddle length
This is the length of the slide saddle. Refer to the data charts.

Step 4: Base length
This is the length of the slide base. Refer to the data charts.

Step 5: Drive type
Metric ground ball screw powered drives. If no drive is ordered, this number is left off the model number code.

Step 6: Slide travel
The base length less the saddle length minus 2 inch allowance for way covers and drive components equals the travel.

Consult factory for linear motor drive applications.

Model number code
This example defines a 9" wide ball bearing slide, 12" saddle length and
24" base length, with a rolled ball screw powered drive and 10" travel.
